Annie Hood, PMHNP-BC
Hello and thank you for your interest! I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), providing psychiatric services to adults ages 18 and older. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed advanced medical training so as to be able to provide specialized care with an independent scope of practice. My specialty is Psychiatry and Mental Health. I provide services focused on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of a variety of mental and behavioral health concerns. I prescribe medications and provide brief psychotherapy or counseling. While my work is similar to a psychiatrist’s in many ways, my approach comes from a nursing tradition: placing a high value on the autonomy of those with whom I work and an appreciation of the individual in the context of their larger lives.
I received my advanced practice training at Oregon Health & Science University, graduating with an MSN. I am Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a lifespan Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). My licensure in the state of Oregon permits me to provide psychiatric care, including the prescription of medications for mental health concerns. As a PMHNP, I have worked with young people experiencing first episodes of psychosis, folks with criminal justice involvement in community and corrections settings, with students in a college health center, and in substance use treatment settings. I specialize in treating mood issues, psychosis, anxiety, trauma, and medication-assisted treatments for substance use. My approach is very client-centered, warm and collaborative, utilizing supportive and brief psychotherapies alongside evidence-based pharmacotherapeutic interventions to support an individual’s goals for mental health.
Currently, I am accepting BCBS, PacificSource, First Choice Health Network PPO as well as cash pay and out-of-network patients.
